Your Meme Is Not an Education
I have always been a big promoter of education, grateful for the many years I spent in post-high-school learning.
I think at one point I believed that education would solve all problems. I have since gotten over that. But I do think that the world is a better place when we know what we are talking about. As you hear politicians throw around words like socialist, communist, jihadist, you realize that many folks have no idea what these mean. And as they disparage Islam they so often reflect they know very little about Islam, except that which they learned from some jaded, uninformed meme on social media. You have every right to be critical of socialism and communism. You even can offer critique of Islam, realizing that our Islamic friends might rightfully offer critique of your tradition. But please know what you are talking about when you do so.
