The Bible is funny!
Sadly, many Christians fail to see the humor that is found in the Bible.
They end up arguing about whether Jonah is a historical story (it is not) instead of being caught off guard by the humor that is so apparent in it. They also fail to note the parodies in the Bible: the story of the Wise Men in Matthew in which the Big Wigs with all the guns are feeling threatened by the birth of a little baby; the story of the procession into Jerusalem, in which Jesus comes into Jerusalem on a little donkey. These parodies may not make you LOL, but they are meant to make us smile and to shake our heads at the Big Wigs. Comedy and parody are essential to healthy lives and to a healthy culture. The Big Wigs often don't like comedy or parody, especially when it comes at their expense. They, especially if they have authoritarian leanings, will try to suppress it. I suspect that part of what the resurrection means is that that suppression cannot win the day. God in the resurrection pulls a joke on the powers. Like the dance, the humor will go on, especially among those who trust in the resurrection.
