Let's make a deal

Deal making is based on the assumption that life is a limited good and that we have to work to make sure that we get as much as we can through the deals that we make. While I know that people (and nations) must think about what is in their best interest (the national interest), I suspect that deal making is really a shallow view of how we negotiate life. What if life is about abundance (the primary Christian claim and note, not prosperity)? Then maybe the deepest calling is not making deals but trying to live into the common abundance that is ours. Deal making, in many ways, tends to always make the other other, and perhaps even an enemy.
