Life-Giving Public Gatherings

Tonight Bev and I heard an excellent concert by Edye Evans-Hyde.

She is a great singer, doing very well with some of the classics of the American song book. She also created a warm and positive atmosphere. The experience made me think of the significance of life-giving public gatherings. I hope I lead such gatherings where people are called to be their very best, to bring forth their compassionate, gentle, and loving selves. Sadly, these days we experience too many public gatherings where people are called not to their best, but to their banal, vulgar, trivial, hateful selves. I left tonight's concert empowered. As I watch some of the recent political rallies, I wonder if people leave those rallies needing to take a bath to get rid of the ugliness.
