Winning Isn't Everything
Sometimes it takes big, unsettling national occurrences for us to get in touch with the idols that often are trying to run the show in our personal and corporate lives.
What the January 6 committee is revealing is the idol of winning. Win at all costs, many in this culture believe. Idols are not only disappointing; they can be downright ugly. When winning runs the show, things like integrity, humility, authenticity, servant love all disappear. And the world becomes angry, violent, and an experience of overwhelming narcissism. It's all very sad. But it's what occurs when idols get a foothold.
