The Illusion of Separation

The mystics, physical therapists, ecologists, and chiropractors among us contend that separation is an illusion.

Everything is connected, they say. The pain in your leg may indeed be coming from upstream. I have been thinking about this as I watch the consequences of our war in Iran. We and Israel bomb Iran, and Iran then bombs Israel, Kuwait, and the UAE. The bombing affects the oil markets, sending oil prices to rates we haven't seen since the last big war began in Ukraine. What's more, the stock market experiences big losses. When we believe that separation rather than unity is true the consequences are huge. Perhaps this is what the church means by "sin." Books like Ephesians and Colossians insist that unity is not a goal to be achieved, but a reality that exists. Maybe sin is trusting otherwise. You can't start a war and not expect a whole lot of stuff that initially doesn't seem to be connected to your bombing to happen. Everything is connected. The physical therapists and mystics are right. Separation is an illusion.
