The Courage to Admit We’re In Over Our Heads
It strikes me that when we feel caught or when we have a sense of inadequacy we often get reactive or angry.
Instead of admitting our vulnerability, confessing our sin, or being honest about what we don't know, we act as if we got everything under control and that others are to blame for whatever the problem is. It's a vicious cycle. Maybe both John the Baptist and Jesus are onto something when they bid us to repent. Maybe repentance not only makes the world a better place; it makes us better people. Watching the despicable behavior of Pam Bondi yesterday was truly disturbing. It seems obvious to me that she is in way over her head, that her inadequacy makes her very ugly. It doesn't look good on her or any of us.
